Current3D is a brand specializing in 3D printed lamps and lighting.
At Current3D we love 3D printing. We also love our environment, that’s why we use recycled PET for our products. Our designer, Michiel van der Kley, is one of the early adaptors of 3D printing, working with these machines since 2011.

Oyster

In 2026 we present a new series of lights, called Oyster. The Oyster series is inspired by the mushrooms of the same name. For now, the series comprises of a wall lamp version and a majestic chandelier.

The chandelier has 30 small cups filled with 1.5V lamps, all pointing at the ceiling.
The wall version has three lamps, with the light directed towards the wall.

3d Printing

About 3D printing

3D printing is our passion. Since the process was invented, we have focused on designing and producing objects that can only be produced with this new technique. We get our inspiration from nature, be it a piece of coral, a crocodile’s skin or the shape of a plant. We love patterns, we love nature and we love light.

3D printing is ideally suited to producing objects with an organic design, since you can 3D print almost anything. We love the natural world with all its tiny variations in shape or form: a rose bush has many flowers, but each is unique. This is reflected in our designs, too, especially the new Oyster chandelier.

Lamps

Frost

Frost is a lamp with a course skin of thick, glass like layers. We love the way light is scattered around this lamp, producing shadows and reflections in and around the lamp.

The lamp comes in two sizes and in two different materials. One in a crystal-clear material called Pet-G, the other in a diffused material, that makes the light more spread around the object.

Oyster

Oyster is inspired by oyster mushrooms and by lilies. The design combines the two in one beautiful chandelier. One stem, divided into 3 branches, each branch divided into three repeatedly, holding 30 cups, scatter light through the room. Your eye continues to follow the playful collection of lines. The chandelier is approximately 80cm in width and one meter in height.

About the designer

The lamps are designed by Michiel van der Kley. Michiel has been an expert in the possibilities of 3D printing for the last 15 years. His background is in furniture design, having worked for leading firms in the Netherlands and beyond, before solely focusing on the unique potential of 3D technology. Some highlights are the world’s largest community 3D printing project, Project EGG and a concrete 3D printed bridge, situated in the Dutch city of Nijmegen.

About the production location

The lamps are designed in the Netherlands and produced in Genk, Belgium.

The state-of-the-art printing facilities in Genk include very large robot arm 3D printers that produce large items such as the Frost lamp, and smaller ones to produce other objects.
